Flattened Software

My latest micro-site goes live tomorrow. What struck me as I uploaded it was that it's a set of files, each of a different extension, each written in a different language. Hasn't software got flat?

• .html web page
• .css style sheet
• .js functionality in JavaScript
• .ashx web handler in C#
• .json persistent storage and transfer format
